How to find the right writer? Listen for the click

So you need some sort of content strategy but don’t understand the ins and outs.

That’s totally normal—you don’t study modern dentistry to have your teeth cleaned.

How do you choose who to hire?

There are a lot of great writers out there. Writers who know the magic words to crack emails open, gather community, and make a good first impression that turns into views and engagement.

But it also takes a good client to do the best creative work. That’s why the most important factor in hiring a writer is finding someone you trust and have chemistry with.

You need to like their voice, taste, and work, but don’t put them in the box of requiring industry experience. You're hiring for writing talent and skill, learning new topics is part of the job.

And that’s your role in the process—to be the source that forms the foundation of the content strategy. Feed in your expertise: the problem the product or service is solving, sales feedback, market fit, intel for positioning.

The writer will package everything in a way that creates awareness, earns trust, and makes your target audience feel seen.

If you hire someone you don’t trust to perform the function for which you hired them, you will waste time, money, and effort.

Research, interview, and listen for the click.
